In November 1989 a fellowship of born-again Christians was formed at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), which later became MUST-Christian Union (MUST-CU) and its major objective was to lift the standard of Christian character at the University and evangelise the southwestern region of Uganda. After Graduation, the former members of MUST-CU felt the need to have a unifying association to help them keep in touch with each other, minister at their work places, and also help MUST-CU fulfill its vision.
On 9th November 1996, the former members of Mbarara University of Science and Technology Christian Union (MUST-CU) had a re-union for the first time after the first graduation ceremony of the University. At this meeting an Alumni association was formed. While at a prayer retreat held on March 11th 1998, members decided that a constitution be made for the steadily growing association to guide its functions.
A committee was chosen to spearhead and solicit for ideas from as many members as possible and then write out a draft. The draft was debated upon, and later constituted in November 2000. The association was named “The Cedars of Lebanon”.
The Association continued to expand while using the 2000 constitution for guidance. However the executive council that was elected in 2004 felt that the association had outgrown the 2000 constitution which lacked a clearly defined vision. Hence proposals for amendments which resulted into the 2005 constitution constituted on 8th July 2005.
There was a need to legalise the association However this was limited by the lack of a statement on dissolution of the Association hence the amendments leading to the current Constitution.
Direction and purpose for all levels of decision-making and help align the efforts of teams toward a common vision
